Maori Language Week
Last week it was Maori Language Week. We learned this Maori counting song, Hei tama tu tama.

Learning about the water cycle.
In room 3 we have been learning all about the water cycle. We have learned about the 4 important parts of the water cycle - evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection.
Today we talked about precipitation. Each of us had a cloud. We held the clouds and described how they felt. Here are some photos of us.
The clouds felt;
Soft, fluffy, light, cuddly, warm, ticklish.
We then talked about what would happen when we put them into some water. Look at the photos of us putting our clouds in water and making it rain. The clouds felt;
wet, cold and heavier than before.

A Surprise in Room 3!!
This morning we all arrived at school to find a big, red box tied up with a ribbon in our classroom. We passed it around and some of us had a guess as to what we thought was inside.
"It's a t.v," said Ruby.
"It's a jack-in-the-box," said Leon.
"I think there are some hot wheels cars inside," said Hauli.
"It's a plane," said Malachai.
"It's Batman!" said Jaden.
"It's a fire car," said Luciano.
"It's a princess doll and crown," said Prachi.
"It's a big doll," said Prisha.
"It's a big puzzle," said Susan.
"It's a spiderman costume," said Daniel.
"It's a phone," said Sienna-Rose.
"It's a Barbie costume," said Johan.
"It's a t.v," said Ruby.

We opened the box and guess what was inside!! It was a great, big teddy bear!! There was a letter too. The bear was called Charlie Bear and he has come to visit Room 3. Look at the pictures of us cuddling Charlie Bear.

Max the Monkey
In Room 3 we have a special friend called Max. He is a monkey and he goes home with one person every day for an adventure. He has a special golden writing book that we write about our adventures in. Yesterday we decided that Max was looking a bit grubby, so today we gave him a bath.
WE LOVE TO SWIM!!
WOW!! What a hot week it has been. Room 3 love going to visit the school pool and cool off in the afternoons. We are beginning to practice for our junior swimming sports which will be happening in Week 5. This is what the some of the children in Room 3 have to say about swimming:
"I like doing handstands in the water," said Luciano
"I like running in the swimming pool," said Jaden.
"I like doing handstands too," said Prisha.
"I like blowing bubbles in the water," said Malachai
"I like going in the pool because it cools me down," said Lily.
"I like putting my whole body under the water," said Daniel.
"I like doing mermaid swimming," said Johan.
"Swimming is fun," said Prachi.
"I like diving," siad Leon.
